Research has shown that Japanese apples have got sweeter over the last 30~40 years as a result of global warming. The research team studied apples from Nagano and Aomori, and found on average a 15% decrease in sourness and 5% increase in sweetness of these apples.
As springs got warmer, the flowers of the apple trees are blooming earlier. Apples are ready for harvest at the end of summer and in autumn. As their maturing timespan get prolonged, the apples got ever sweeter.
The report has shown that the apples producing regions have on average experienced an increase in temperature of 1degree celcius over the last 30~40years. This is one unexpected plus point of global warming.
