A Storm in Concert

My family and I went to Miyagi for the Arashi concert on 20th Sep. It was a most enjoyable and memorable experience, especially for my kids who are diehard Arashi fans. The 4 days event reportedly generated more than 900million yen in economic activities for the Prefecture which is still recovering from the big earthquake that shook Japan 4 years ago.

The fanfare was well reported on national TV. What I want to 'report' here, from the perspective of  a foreigner, is the way the audiences were so well mannered and how things proceeded smoothly despite long queues and big crowds. The most amazing thing to me was how the concert started punctually. I have read about how big stars and idols have kept their fans waiting for hours in the west. In Japan, idols and entertainers are well mannered and treat their fans with respect. A delayed performance is hardly heard of here.
