Maiko gets harrassed

As more and more tourists flock to Japan due to a cheaper yen, Japanese are experiencing a host of troubles with unkempt foreigners and some of their unruly behaviours. Widely reported recently are the rubbish that tourists leave behind them, be it on the streets or in the airports upon their departure. While Japan welcomes the economic benefits that these tourists bring with them, Japanese are getting a little upset about how their harmonious lifestyle gets disturbed when tourists do not understand Japanese culture and end up disrupting the fragility of their well-mannered environment.

On today's news, it was reported that the famous Maiko-san of Kyoto are getting harrassed by the increasing throngs of foreign tourists. Many people get excited when they see a real life Maiko walks past. Everyone wants to take a sulfie with a Maiko. Some may get rowdy, grap and pull at a Maiko. Maiko-sans have reported having the sleeves of their expensive kimonos torn. Some have even reported having their hair accessories snatched in broad daylight!

While many things are going cheap in Japan, Japanese culture is not! Foreigners will want to bear in mind to leave the Japanese culture intact, while they take in the beautiful sceneries and people of Japan.
