Japan celebrates "Old Folks Day" on 16th, Monday and this day is made all the more meaningful by the figures released by the authorities. As of today, there are 54,397 people who are over a hundred years old in Japan. Compared to last year's figure, it has increased by 3,021 people. This is the highest figure recorded in the past 43 years. 88% of these centuranians are ladies.
