This letter was written by a man in his fifties living in Saitama.
I work in a nursing home. The home is operational 24 hours daily, with no holidays throughout the year. It is difficult to take block leave. Of course, there is no summer holiday for staff. For staff members who have family outside Saitama, going on a home visit is impossible.
We are experiencing a grave human power shortage. But to work without rest is demanding and does not allow for recharge. Even during work, I think about how long I can continue before I break down and what if I commit a mistake accidentally which may lead to trouble.
